The Great Trail Drive

Just before dawn on Saturday, October 8, 2011, cowboys and cowgirls mosied on into the historic Fort Worth Stockyards ready to saddle up for the 2011 Great Trail Drive. The Great Trail Drive is a true Texas trail drive where riders, both on horseback and in wagons, will herd longhorns down the Chisholm Trail following the Trinity River to downtown Fort Worth and back.  A continental breakfast was provided for riders needing to fill up on vittles and after the ride, a chuckwagon lunch was served in an authentic cow camp atmosphere.

Later in the evening, about 500 guests donning attire from cowboy boots and jeans to sequins and pearls poured through the doors of the River Ranch eager to kick up their heels and have a good time at the "Denim & Pearls" Dinner Dance.  Live entertainment was provided by country music singer/songwriter Dan Roberts and the Clear Fork Band.  Guests had a chance to bid on a large assortment of Big Board, Silent and Live auction items during the evening

The event was again a huge success and Rocky Top was able to raise more than $96,000 (net) for our facility thanks to our wonderful group of sponsors and supporters.

Photos from the event are posted under our Trail Drive Gallery

Thank you for your kindness and support!  We'll see y'all next October!
